How it all began

Spreading Sunshine began with one family who faced their son David’s diagnosis of Down Syndrome at birth. David’s mom, Abigail, was touched by the kindness and compassion they were shown during the many weeks in the hospital.

She saw the needs of other families in the hospital who didn’t have support and wanted to do something about it.

Providing a Year of Sunshine to Families During a Pandemic

It’s Down Syndrome Awareness Month. Here’s What You Should Know.

Spreading Sunshine has been a wonderful addition to our family. They brought a huge smile and lifted the spirits of a little girl who had spent most of her life until that point at the hospital. Thank you for not only bringing some beautiful rays of light and happiness to Evie’s life but for bringing me a wonderful community of families. I also met one of my best friends through the sunshine community.
Our family was put into contact with Spreading Sunshine when Kellen was undergoing his second heart surgery at 9 months old. We have been blessed to be part of this group ever since. It's been almost 4 years! We are so thankful to be part of this group of warriors. Families who we can cry with, celebrate with, be encouraged by, and also know that we are covered in prayer by them. Thank you for making a difference and spreading His sunshine!
The personal touches of the staff and volunteers were perfect timing. They come with prayerful hearts, listening ears, and words of healing. They truly spread the sunshine of the gospel of Jesus in not just gifts and food, but in their presence.
Spreading Sunshine has been a source of light and love for our family during numerous hospital stays and years of chemotherapy. The prayers that we have received, and continue to receive, from members of this group have uplifted and encouraged us during some very dark days. This group is truly a blessing from God and helps us and so many others navigate life with a chronically ill child.
