Provide Family Care

Families face many challenges when their child has a critical or chronic illness and it can be a lonely place.

N

Parents feel alone and isolated as they make difficult decisions.

N

Families are separated during treatment and due to COVID restrictions.

N

Normal everyday life is turned upside down to focus on battling their child's illness.

N

Parents feel overwhelmed and may not be able to tell others what they need.

N

Families are often disconnected from their good friends and support community.

N

Grief, disappointment and weariness are part of their new normal.

We believe every child and family member facing childhood illness should know they are loved and not alone.

You can touch a family’s life and make a difference!

Imagine what families face when their child is in and out of the hospital or traveling for treatments. It is often hard to know how to help families in this situation. That is why Spreading Sunshine has developed simple ways to show families they are loved. Together we can help lighten their load by meeting their needs in meaningful ways.

Sunshine Family Care

Partnering with local hospitals, we support families by providing meals and meeting practical needs.

Our family was put into contact with Spreading Sunshine when Kellen was undergoing his second heart surgery at 9 months old. We have been blessed to be part of this group ever since. It’s been almost 4 years! We are so thankful to be part of this group of warriors. Families who we can cry with, celebrate with, be encouraged by, and also know that we are covered in prayer by them. Thank you for making a difference and spreading His sunshine!

— Kristy

The personal touches of the staff and volunteers were perfect timing. They come with prayerful hearts, listening ears, and words of healing. They truly spread the sunshine of the gospel of Jesus in not just gifts and food, but in their presence.

— Amy

Spreading Sunshine has been a source of light and love for our family during numerous hospital stays and years of chemotherapy. The prayers that we have received, and continue to receive, from members of this group have uplifted and encouraged us during some very dark days. This group is truly a blessing from God and helps us and so many others navigate life with a chronically ill child.

— Pam

Spreading Sunshine has been a wonderful addition to our family.
They brought a huge smile and lifted the spirits of a little girl who had spent most of her life until that point at the hospital. Thank you for not only bringing some beautiful rays of light and happiness to Evie’s life but for bringing me a wonderful community of families. I also met one of my best friends through the sunshine community.

— Heather

Why Spreading Sunshine?

After receiving a diagnosis of Down syndrome at her son David’s birth, Abigail Sacran, the Founder of Spreading Sunshine was touched by the kindness and support she and her family received. She saw firsthand that many families in the hospital have little support. Abby, feeling moved to “pay-it-forward”, sent the very first Sunshine Box to a young girl who was having heart surgery. When Abby shared about the box on social media, the idea went viral and Spreading Sunshine was born. Our staff and volunteers have personal stories of our own experiences with childhood illness that move our hearts to serve families with passion.
